Cut daughters hair before 12th standard exams

My name is Hema, and i have a daughter who is in 12th standard. This is a very important year in her career and i want her to completely focus on studies and not get bothered by anything else. She has pretty long hair, and although it is straight and silky, still she has to spend some time on it. I was thinking if i should take her to a salon and get her hair cut shorter so that she can concentrate more on her studies.

But i am not sure on it yet. I am sure there would be many more mothers who have done this so would like to get your views on the same. Also i am assuming everyone out there would have either someone they personally know, who has got haircut because of exams. I would love to get advice from you all.

Thank you.

Yes Surely cut her hair short till shoulder ,because one of my cousin also had hair till her hip during 11 th and she was taking lot of time for her hair do and due to this reason she scored very less marks in exam looking at this aunt ask me what should be done to her hair ,i suggested to get her haircut short to shoulder len which will take less time for her hair do and can concentrate on her 12th exams and next day only aunt took her to parlour and got a bob haircut for her ,and after that she started concentrating on studies and at last she scored 90% in her 12th exams and now she is doing engineering and my cousin still loves the bob haircut on her

You can give her a short boycut or bobcut.

My daughter was having same problem. She is in ninth standard and she takes lot of time to maintain her mid back length hair. She is having lice also which irritates her during studies. She was class first till seventh but now she went down to third.
I told my husband regarding this and he told me to take her to nearby barbershop and get a short haircut. She was not ready and she cried and didnt eat food for one day. I consoled her saying that she can come to class first after cutting her hair. She was very sad on losing her hair, but she agreed.

On a saturday, I took her to barbershop and there was nobody else. I asked barber to give her short boycut but she told bob. I told him to cut bob and give signal to him to cut boycut. He agreed and made her hair bobcut first. When she looked at the mirror, he took the clippers and started cutting from back. When she asked, he told it will look good after cutting the back and side hair if clippered. I too told it will look good. He clippered the back and then started to the sides. He wisefully clippered the middle portion of her hair with cliper over comb and hair was four inch short on middle portion of head. She understood this and she began crying. I again consoled her saying that she is having lice and need to cut hair short so that all lice will go. With broken heart, she cried and said do as per your wish and do anything on me. She didnt look at the mirror. Barber cut her front hair and made it about five inches long. Haircut was complete and she took a few hair which was on the cape. She looked at the mirror. Barber tried to comb her hair, but she objected. When we came home, she cried a lot and didnt had food for that day.

When she went school, friends laughed at her and so she came home sad. I told her not to worry and tell them its new trend. She became happy after two three days and liked her haircut.
Its very easy to comb and no hair drier required after bath.
She is saying she need to cut hair once in two months.

you are asking in haircut forum, and do you expect anyone to say “please, don’t cut her hair” ?

Everyone will say only one thing. “CUT HER HAIR” . some may say, shoulder length, some may say pixie, etc.,

Just cutting her hair, will not let her focus on studies.

What if she is so attached to her hair, then if you cut her hair all of a sudden, she might mentally take a hit too.

so, better leave it to your daughter. dont force anything on her. if she feels like, let her cut her hair. if not, let her grow.

Education should be understood, digested thoroughly & made use in day to day life.
It’ll not come by cutting her hair.

why not help her manager her hair, if you feel like, she’s spending more time with her hair.

My simple suggestion, leave it to your daughter. dont take a stand by considering the opinion from this forum. This is a haircut forum. people say only one thing ” GO, CUT HER HAIR, etc.,” dont get carried away with those suggestions.

just cutting her hair is not a solution. Many Outstanding students in my batch had Very long hair below BUTT. what do you say for that ? They kept long hair on 12th, college, even during working too.

It’s an identify of girl. dont just cut it for stupid reasons. If your daughter wants to cut it out of her choice, then its different. Otherwise, forget it, and help her in studies. Just cutting her hair will not help.

I consulted with my Husband on what to do. He said even he is not sure, but let us not take any risk. Hair can anyways grow long again. Hence we decided to cut her hair but thought we should also take her opinion. So we asked our daughter about it and she said she dosent care about hair length and that she was fine with anything. So we went ahead with a long bob hair. Which is not too short but also easily managable than her earlier long hair.
